Good weather for flying but a little bumpy with the Easterly. Good to see more new members coming out. A good meeting with progress on getting a Sim set up in the club rooms. Next meeting scheduled for second Sunday of March ( always the second sunday of each month)
Ex President Peter flew the owner of their Jodel D18 down to the First Fly in in the World on January 01 at Waipukurau where Cathryn won a prize for the longest flight to the the Fly in. Photo courtesy of Clive Wilkinson and NZ Aviation News
Ex president Peter and President Wayne flew in Jodel D 18 to this event and joined Andrew who was a groundling for the day. Good weather, a great atmosphere and a wide variety of very interesting aircraft able to be seen up close. Highly recommended.
Remember to keep an eye on our Facebook page for all the latest updates….
The next Rotorua Aero Club Flying Day will be this coming Sunday May 14th at the Gliding Club Hangar, from 0900 ish till mid-afternoon. It looks like an exciting week as far as the weather goes and Metvuw is predicting fine weather but with a deep low off to the East, so anything could happen.
Don’t forget it is Mother’s Day and what Mum wouldn’t love a trial flight. If you are definitely wanting a flight scheduled in, please let us (via Facebook) or Peter at Whakatane Aerohire know, as it looks as if he may be bringing just one plane over this time so there could be a bit of demand.
Peter has bought the Bristell and C152 ove with him 🙂
Fantastic day for flying, come on down!
Hi fliers, next Sunday is our next Aero Club Flying Day. Peter Rutledge from Aerohire Whakatane is planning on bringing over two aircraft and instructors so there should be enough time for everyone who wants a flight.
The weather this coming week looks like being a shocker but at present Sunday is looking good, the grass is likely to be closed but that won’t affect these planes.
At the Gliding club hangar, north of the Tower, starting about 0900, till midafternoon, all welcome, $5 for sausage sizzle and honesty box for coffee etc.
Postponements if needed will be via Facebook.
Hope to see you there
Not all of these aircraft are part of the aero club- can you guess which ones?
Hi Fliers, our monthly flying day is this Sunday, at the gliding club. Peter Rutlidge is coming over. Forecast is looking good (see our website for 5-day forecast!). Typically starts around 0930, runs until mid afternoon. Bring $5 for lunch to help support our BBQ. Hope to see you there 🙂
Hi Rotorua Aeroclub. We have a new website under development at http://flyingrotorua.nz. Have a look and let us know if you have any suggestions. Posts to the webpage should automatically show up here on Facebook (like this one!).
Sorry fliers, the weather has beaten us again. Sundays flying is postponed until next week (19 March 2017)
The next Flying Sunday will be held this Sunday, March 12th, (weather permitting – it is looking very poor at moment) at the Gliding Club Hangar, just north of the Tower. This will commence about 0900 when Peter arrives and finish mid afternoon. All local and visiting fliers and interested people are welcome, whether you have your own plane, need some instruction, or would like a trial flight, or would like to know more about recreational flying.
Flight bookings are not always necessary, but if you definitely want to book a flight, let Peter at Aerohire in Whakatane know before Sunday.
We’ll have a sausage sizzle about midday and there will be tea and coffee available, all at low cost. Cancellations or postponement will be via Facebook so please check if you are not sure.
